When bad breath becomes something worse, it can mean tooth decay, gingivitis, or infection. Dogs may develop sensitive teeth, chewing that may hurt their gums causing them to bleed, and they could be at risk for even more serious complications. Veterinarians will need to get involved. Often, this means surgical tooth cleaning and tooth removal under anesthesia. That's not fun for anyone, especially your dog!
